3 A Detailed Fault Report
If you choose to view a more detailed report of a current fault the
system will display a screen similar to the images shown below.
As the detailed fault report potentially contains more information that will fit on a
screen, fig. 4 shows the top part of a detailed fault report screen and fig. 5 shows the
bottom part.

The top part of the detailed fault report screen shown above contains
the following details
- The telephone number the fault was logged against.
- The fault report number (this is how the fault is identified within BT)
- The date and time the fault was logged by BT
- The customer type the account of the telephone number is for
- Date and times of any appointment for an engineer to attend the customer's property to
deal with the fault.
- If BT has failed to meet a commitment to deal with the fault or the engineer failed to
keep an appointment an apology message will be displayed (as show in the image above,
hi-lighted in red)
- A text description of where line tests suggest the fault is likely to be located
- A graphical representation of the BT telephone network with the likely location of the
fault hi-lighted

The lower part of a detailed fault report screen is shown in fig. 5
below.

This bottom part of the detailed fault report screen gives the following
details
Under the graphical representation of the BT telephone network is
- A key to the locations within the network where the fault may be
- If an engineer may need to gain access to the customer's property to deal with the fault
a warning of this will be displayed (as shown, hi-lighted in red)
- The current status of the fault, whether tests have been completed and the fault
diagnosed, whether an engineer has been assigned, etc.
